03 November 2015

At 43 we have been focusing a serious amount of resources and time to differentiate our training into creating “thinking” Pilots as opposed to merely qualifying with a pilot’s license in hand..

This was done through implementation of airline evidence based outcome procedures and principles; firstly into our instructor pool and then changing the way we do things through careful planning and training.

My happiest childhood memories were that of a four year old sitting in our backyard in the country town of Wellington, waiting for the Boeing to fly over our house. At the slightest sound or sight, there would be a performance from me. I would call the whole neighbourhood’s kids to come and look at the aeroplane that will bring me something special one day. Well, I actually thought it would bring me another brother or sister…because, I thought that was where babies came from.

COMPASS: Computerized Pilot Aptitude Screening System

22 January 2015

A Word From Our CEO - Attie Niemann.

Screening pilot candidates in order to assess appropriate set of skills to become a commercial aviation pilot is a difficult and time consuming task. FTO’s or Airlines often have to free-up time of experienced pilots and instructors to assess candidates suitability as commercial aviation pilots. COMPASS is a pilot selection and screening system used by airlines and FTO’s to screen and select candidate pilots for commercial aviation pilot training. Because COMPASS is a series of tests taken on a normal PC, the results are not open to interpretation, all candidates are tested on the same set of skills required to become an airline pilot. The results of the COMPASS pilot aptitude test clearly show in which skills the pilot candidate is proficient or not.
